Harriet Wolff and Jan Bölsche investigate the whole wide world. There is no need for them to leave their town for it, because everybody comes to Berlin. In their analogue processed pictures (harrietwolff.com) and digital prints (blind-photographer.com) the “Neuköllnerin“ and the “Kreuzberger“ place urban, but not arranged moments.

Background
Since I have been living in Neukölln for 13 years now, the project of organizing a photo and text exhibition about
people and places of my neighborhood instantly captured my interest. Neukölln: that means more than 160 000 people
coming from more than a 160 nations (the borough itself counts more than 300 000 residents) – a patchwork of lifestyles,
cultures and religions. More than half the population has an immigration background, most of them with Turkish roots.
Neukölln has been cosmopolitan for a long time, an in place since recently and it is always surprising.

Centre Culturel Barbara, Paris (april 2012)
Invited by the fashion designer Sakina M‘sa (www.sakinamsa.com), I presented a photo collage inspired by the work of “Zaher”,
a Lebanese thriftshop owner based in Berlin-Neukölln. His shop is a universe of artefacts, a zone of infinite memories,
personal and collective at the same time. What is memory about? A question that touches intuition. A patchwork.
